T Day

Today is November 26, 2009, Thanksgiving Day. Can't believe that I am not cooking! We are taking my parents and other family to Yountville to a nice restaurant.

Art is pretty far from my mind today, but that may be a good thing. It has been hard for me to take a break. Sometimes you have to refuel before being creative.

Reflect on Sunday

Made a break through in my artwork yesterday. Really excited about my newest clay monoprint and think it will take me in a new direction. Want to keep producing on a consistent basis, as I lose momentum and end up frustrated until I get something I am happy with. HEAR THAT BONNIE?

Last night, I went out with the girls. Was a lot of fun. Lots of laughs and bits closeness. A friend it turning 60. I hit that a while back and can't believe time goes so fast. Friendships are very important to my balanced life too.

Friday & MJ

I created a clay monotype yesterday, but didn't like it. It seems that every time I take a break from printing, my first print for the new session doesn't turn out well. Hope I can learn from this information and print more often.

Today, I got the slab prepared for another print and then I took a break. Went with a friend to see the Michael Jackson movie, This is It. Really enjoyed it. Such a great talent. It is so sad that he died so young. Back to printing tomorrow.

Teaching

Today was my teaching day for ceramics. I have 20 students in the morning and 7 intermediate students in the afternoon, so it is a busy day. We had a guest artist at class tody to finish a project on sculpted animals. It went very well. Now I am tired and will get back to my studio tomorrow.

Good Day

Today was good. I spent time in my studio creating images to work with and getting my supplies ready. The stoneware clay slab that I work on for my clay monotypes was too dry, so I covered it with wet paper towels and sheets of plexi glass for a few hours, while I went to the Dentist for two filling replacments. The day goes so fast that I am never bored.

I also fixed a frame for a show that I will be in on Market Street in San Francisco. After the News tonight, I think I will take the San Mateo Brige to get to the reception. Can't believe that a truck went off the side at the S curve. Hope they close it soon and make some big adjustments.

Tomorrow, I will start my clay monotype process. Messy, but a lot of fun.

Monday Monday

I spent the day cleaning my studio. Now I am ready to work on some art.
I actually moved my 350 pound etching press by myself. I got water and liquid soap on the floor, popped it a bit with a crow bar, and gradually moved it by pounding on the support boards with a sledge hammer. It took over and hour, but it has been bugging me for a long time. I felt too closed in.
Tomorrow, I plan to be creative with beginning new art projects of linocut and clay monotype.

This second mixed media sculpture is called "Wabi Sabi". Wabi stands for the simplicity of things. Sabi is the aged patina or color such as on an old statue.

Blogging is more of a challenge than making my website. It will be good to write down my thoughts and to have others give me comments.

I often have difficulty getting into my studio in the area where I create art. It is easier to go to the office and google, google, google without accomplishing something creative. I usually wait until I have a deadline for a show before the art supplies come out. I want to change this as I have goals to achieve.

Here is one of my clay monotypes, created with liquid clay onto non-woven fabric:

New Blog

This is the first day of my new blog. I plan to use this to motivate me with my artwork.
